Brewer's Notes: For this release, we ran with the Freak Flag base recipe, but fine-tuned the malt bill a bit in order for it to hold up to the copious amount of Crosby Hop Farms Idaho-7 hops we'd be steeping in it. Coming from Oregon, these hops sounded like a awesome change this season for our Freak Flag special edition. The interesting thing about Idaho-7 in leaded beer, is that it is harvested really late in the season. For Crosby, its usually the very last hop they harvest. Being a less "trendy" hope, there is smaller acreage of the crop, but it packs insane flavors, competing with the trendiest of trendies. In leaded beer this ends up being too late in the season and folks are tired of fresh hops by the time you get it out, so it's rarely used for fresh hops. Accordingly, we adjusted our release schedule to provide you this unique hop experience.

This batch is freaky fresh. Gigantic waves of melon, sweet pineapple and a hint of menthol, with a sweet, quenching and smooth candy-like finish. The dankness seems like its going to build and punish you a bit, but then shifts back into sweetness, followed by a slight bitter linger, reminding your pallette just how many #’s of Idaho-7 was used (if you guessed a "metric shit-ton", you'd be pretty spot on). We ran the carbonation a little more on the soft side to round out the sharp flavors and improve it’s drinkability, emphasizing its full body and mouthfeel. Get it now and drink it fresh, as this is only time of the year freak flag has fresh hops used on the brewday.

WARNING: similar to many juices, kombucha, and other beverages you'll find in the grocery store, this product has not been pasteurized, and therefore may contain harmful bacteria that can cause serious illness in children, the elderly, and persons with weakened immune systems.
PLEASE NOTE: like other beverage industries have been doing for centuries, we mitigate the potential for bacterial growth in other ways, rather than to pasteurize and destroy the nuanced flavors that make our beer stand out from many pasteurized non-alcoholic beer offerings, though we do acknowledge pasteurization is the most effective way to inhibit bacterial growth, or potential for refermentation in the can. Risk may be exacerbated by prolonged warm storage, so to mitigate risk, always cold-store Self Care immediately upon receipt, and avoid exposure to extreme heat.
